Julie Brown, Nottinghamshire Pilates Instructor

Julie has always had a love of exercise and has been actively involved in both team and individual sports from an early age, partaking in County Coaching for Tennis and Lady Captain of her local Golf Club.

Julie is used to the stresses of everyday life having worked in the “City” since leaving school and culminating in owning her own Recruitment Agency in the heart of the City for over 10 years. On deciding to start a family, Julie sold her business and became a full time ”mum” to her children and to support her husband. Exercise never diminished however, believing in its ability to enhance your life and offer life long benefits. This love of exercise has passed onto her son who competes internationally at ice skating. Julie is actively involved in the training of her son and it was through his training regime that brought Julie to the benefits of Pilates both as a core strengthening programme but also as a whole body and mind connection. Julie completed her Pilates training and qualified at the renowned STOTTs Pilates™ studios in Oxford.

Becky Visser, Lincolnshire Pilates Instructor

Becky is a Chartered and State Registered Physiotherapist and a APPI trained Pilates Instructor.

Becky started her physiotherapy career in 2001 in London working at a busy NHS teaching hospital where she rotated through all areas of physiotherapy giving her insight into many different conditions. She specialised in musculoskeletal outpatients, hydrotherapy and orthopaedics helping to run the hydrotherapy service and assisting in voluntary rheumatological groups such as the NASS group (National Society for Ankylosing Spondylitis).

Working for these groups started her interest in the effects of core strength and mobility and the effects of regular maintenance and preventative exercise and the motivational benefits of group work.

In 2004 she moved to Lincoln with her family and made the move from the NHS into the private sector securing a job in the private hospital in Lincoln where she became the Physiotherapy Manager in 2006. Since moving to Lincoln she has continued to build her physiotherapy expertise and knowledge of conditions both inpatient and outpatient where she has been able to use her APPI trained Pilates skills to aid recovery and prevent reoccurrence of conditions such as low back pain and neck pain.

Becky has seen first hand the benefits that pilates can achieve for many conditions and is a full supporter of the Prime Movers Chair Pilates programme and the way it opens up this fantastic form of exercise and strengthening to a wide range of people who may not have been able to access exercise in the past.
